Musicians in search of love in The Bachelor Mansion on season one of The Bachelor LTYH.

The new show on ABC, The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart, premiered Monday, April 15 and of course, I had my doubts, but because of quarantine, I decided to give the show a try.

Chris Harrison, every season of The Bachelor and Bachelorette, promises that it will be the most dramatic season yet and this time he didn’t disappoint. As soon as he introduced the concept of the show, which is finding love via music, I laughed.

Natalie Grim, Philadelphia fan said, “I’m honestly disgusted and heartbroken to announce that in these times, my roommates and I have determined we have no choice but to tune in to The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart for its premiere tonight.”

I also didn’t expect to spend my Monday night watching this show, but due to quarantine, I had no other choice but to give it a try.

Twenty attractive and talented males and females made an appearance at the famous Bachelor Mansion with the purpose of finding love on the show. Already invested, I continued to watch the lives of these complete strangers and couldn’t stop questioning, do the producers really think they will find the next Jay-Z and Beyonce???

Gorgeous men and women began to flow into the mansion, and it is clearly visible that every archetype is represented, based on the outfits they wore on the first episode. I was disappointed with the lack of diversity in the room though, but that’s how The Bachelor franchise typically goes.

Immediately I became a fan of Ryan, the aspiring pop star, and Mel who is an indie-rock chic. The least dramatic people in the mansion so far, unlike Jamie who was the first contestant to walk in and say “I hate drama.”

Which is a lie, no one that is a fan or contestant on the show hates the drama The Bachelor produces because that’s the prime reason anyone watches the show. It’s amazing to see lengths people will go to win, not for love, but win on the show.

Connections were made amongst the musicians and drama began to roll in halfway through the first episode. Ladies were falling for the men with every word that came out of their mouth, while the men were frantic to find a woman, they could potentially receive a rose from.

The next morning, a date card appeared on the living room table and everyone was anxious to know who and what the date will be. Spoiler alert! It was Ryan. The series of events that occurred after consisted of tears, arguments, forced smiles, hot tubs and of course drama.

Next week’s episode will be even more interesting, especially with the introduction of two more women in the mix, which will test the bonds that were formed or reinforce them. I refuse to miss out on Ryan’s journey to find love by singing to other musicians.

Like Grim said, “I’m confirming that Listen to Your Heart is exactly the kind of nonsense I need right now.”
